Os trustes no "curral" dos coronéis: indústrias de base e serviços no debate capixaba de 1940

Abstract

This work aims to approach the capixaba political field and its respective public sphere. Through the presence of foreign trusts in the country and Espirito Santo, it is sought to observe the various speeches pronounced about the multinational companies in order to perceive the different developmentalist projects that derived from “Estado-novista Vargas” project in democracy. For that, the methodology is the discourse analysis proposed by Ciro Cardoso (1997), used in the capixaba"s newspapers that was circulating in 1940. Concepts such as belief, project, propaganda; Public sphere; Campus; habitus; nationalism; expanded state; position struggle; and developmentalism provides due theoretical support. From those readings, it will be observed, through the public sphere, that the Capixaba"s political campus is restricted to the power of the “coronéis”.
