Abstract

This dissertation analyzes the discourses about the fat female body on the social network Instagram. The research analysis focus is woven on top of publications made by fat digital influencers within Instagram, namely Alexandra Gurgel, Thais Carla, Raíssa Galvão and Luci Gonçalves in the initial period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, we seek to understand the body as a political and resistance territory, to understand the similarities and differences between the body positive movement and fat activism and how Instagram contributed to the democratization of previously marginalized narratives.
