Trabalho docente: as professoras do direito do ensino superior público em uma perspectiva de raça e gênero

Abstract

Issues involving gender and race, despite not being new themes in research in Brazil, have gained even greater strength with the current struggles of the Black and Feminist Movements. In the case of Public Universities, the issue gains important dimensions with the quota policy. Many courses such as Law, Medicine, Engineering, among others, historically marked by the majority presence of men and based on hierarchies that disqualify women, have also been called upon to deepen this debate. In Brazil we know that, not only in the educational segment, but in several other areas of activity, the machismo and racism that structure our country predominate. This dissertation uses concepts formulated in these fields to then debate and present the movements, discussions and analyzes surrounding issues of gender, race and health of women who are Law professors. To this end, a Public University in the city of Vitória/ES was used as an empirical field and a Cartographic Interview with teachers in this field was used as a methodological strategy. Thus, the objective was to think from teachers' narratives, visualizing elements to discuss the aspects proposed in this study. With the analyses, with regard to gender, it was possible to highlight that, in line with other research carried out, it is possible to state that there is a reduced number of women professors in the Law course and in relation to race, studies indicate the absence of female professors black women in this course at the university where the research was developed. The dissertation shows us some important paths for formulating public policies for universities in this direction.
