Duplex stainless steels (AID) are increasingly used in various industrial segments, because due to their dual phases, austenite and ferrite, they provide AID with good mechanical properties as well as good resistance to corrosion. When applying these materials, due of welding procedures may result in the degradation of the material's characteristics and an evaluation of the welded site is necessary. The barkhausen magnetic noise test (RMB) allows qualitative assessment of residual stress in ferromagnetic materials. This study evaluated plates in UNS S 32205 welded by the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process regarding the thermal input and phase unbalance in different regions of the welded plate and at different levels of welding energy. The results were correlated with the RMS value and RMB mean peak. The correlations were moderate and strong, allowing a qualitative analysis of IDA welded with the combined RMB assay and ferritoscopy.
