Apoio matricial em saúde mental no município de Vitória/ES: outras possibilidades de produção de cuidado em saúde mental

Abstract

The connection concerning mental health and primary care is essential for caring in freedom and has been built since the beginning of the Psychiatric Reform movement. Matrix support, which aims to assure specialized support to health care teams and professionals involved in the care of health problems, becomes a central discussion of care and is assimilated by the mental health field as a means of strengthening basic training teams in Brazil in dealing with high psychological distress patients and/or mental disorders. Since June 2018, a different matrix support organization model has been adopted by the municipality of Vitória, alongside with the three CAPS of reference of the team in question, contrasting the previous structure, which consisted of specific CAPS (adult, youth/juvenile or alcohol and other drugs). Thus, it is built as a matrix support in the great field of mental health. This research aims to understand, from the perspective of matrix support team workers, the repercussions resulting from the changes made in the matrix support in mental health in the city of Vitória, in the work organization of primary care teams and mental health clinics workers, as well as the repercussions on mental health care. This is an exploratory research carried out by five online focus groups. Participants consist of health care workers, either from primary care units or CAPS, who provide health care and actively engage in mental health matrix-based strategies for at least three years. Focus groups were recorded and transcribed. Data were analyzed according to thematic content analysis pointing out four aspects: Fundamentals; Potentialities; weaknesses; Necessary adjustments. Practices carried out in daily work were discussed in order to build a current scenario of matrix support in the municipality and contributions are made to strengthen this organizational arrangement in the enhancement of mental health care.
