Resumo
In this work, i studied the production of electrical energy through chemical reactions, performed by fuel cells, Solid Oxide fuel cell was the focus of this study. These cells are produced in two types of different geometries and may be tubular or planar. But regardless of the geometry, they can be fed by natural gas, which will undergo an internal process to the cell called reform, which has the objective to transform carbon-rich compounds into carbon monoxide and hydrogen, which is the main fuel for energy production. The product of this cell, in addition to electric power, is carbon dioxide and water, which makes it sustainable, because it uses mainly methane gas, one of the most responsible for the greenhouse effect, for hydrogen production and returns water and carbon dioxide. In addition, is a producer of stationary energy source that can get closer to the final consumer, and can take power in hard to reach places or where it is not feasible economically take transmission lines. The aim of this work was the study of improving the efficiency of a system composed of a solid oxide fuel cell and a gas microturbine connected at the output of the cell and using his gas to produce electricity. A thermochemical eletric model was developed and to get the cell operating income alone, showing their efficiency and subsequently the microturbine gas model and so increase the efficiency of the system with the two working together.
