Números complexos e algumas aplicações ao ensino médio

Abstract

This work has as a main subject to bring to the teacher of high school some applications for the use of complex numbers, different from applications in textbooks. For many times, when I started to teach this subject, some students questioned: “Where am I going to use this?”, and usually the answer is always around the subjects and/or disciplines offered in higher education. It is hardly seen application of complex numbers related to high school. Therefore, this work has three overtures. Each one with examples followed by exercises. The first proposed activity is about the distance between two points and it aims to understand what the main argument of complex numbers is. The other two activities are about the application of complex numbers. One has as objective to find the vertices of a regular polygon given a single start vertex, and the other one uses operations with the same group of numbers for demonstration of trigonometric formulas seen in high school
