Resumo

The direct detection of gravitational waves allowed the universe to be observed from another perspective and once again General Relativity has been tested and has passed this test. In this work we revisit the gravitational wave sector, WHERE we derive the equation for the decay of the orbital period in binary systems that occurs due to the emission of gravitational waves in the context of a generic modified theory of gravity (JIMÉNEZ; PIAZZA; VELTEN, 2016), in which a new constant of gravitational coupling to matter that originates in the gravitational radiative sector appears. Then, using the most precise orbital parameters of binary pulsars, the Double Pulsar, we infer a range of values for this new constant Ggw and determine that the gravitational coupling of gravitational waves to matter can differ only at a level of 10−4 in comparsison to the usual gravitational coupling. This is the best contraint obtained for this quantity.
