Resumo

The objectives of this study in bovine enamel that had been microabrased were analyze superficial roughness and weariness using 3D Digital Profilometry (P) and weariness using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). In order to do so, 18 bovine teeth were flattened, polished and microabrased with Fosforic Acid + Pumice and Opalustre®, applied with the different tips: Cup(T), Conical(C) and Opal Cups®(O). There were 06 applications (10 seconds each) shifting washing (20 seconds) and drying (20 seconds) under 30 gram load in lower rotation (12,000 rpm). Superficial roughness and weariness measurements were taken before and after the microabrasion processes. It was noticed statistically difference in superficial roughness among tips as to Fosforic Acid + Pumice (T=0.384µm; C=0.305µm; O=0.442µm, Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney, p<0.05) as to Opalustre® (T=0.434µm; C=0.526µm; O=0.274µm; Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney, p<0.05). In the weariness analysis using both devices it was noticed that both materials applied with Cup (P: Fosforic Acid + Pumice=167.300µm and Opalustre® =225.2000µm; OCT: Fosforic Acid + Pumice=163.6890µm and Opalustre® =208.6460µm) showed greater weariness values than the other tips associations, Opal Cups® (P: Fosforic Acid + Pumice=78.1000µm and Opalustre® =95.5000µm; OCT: Fosforic Acid + Pumice=55.3310µm and Opalustre® =99.7115µm) and comic tip (P: Fosforic Acid + Pumice=44.7000µm and Opalustre® =76.2000µm; OCT: Fosforic Acid + Pumice=42.3630µm and Opalustre® =69.1650µm, Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney, p<0.05). There was no statistic difference comparing groups between equipments (Mann-Whitney, p>0.05). It was concluded that superficial roughness changed according to the type of tip in both materials, Fosforic Acid + Pumice with Conic tip and Opalustre® with Opal Cups® showed the lower superficial roughness; weariness also changed according to the used tip, likewise for both materials, Conic tip showed the lower weariness, confirmed by both devices, proving that Optical Coherence Tomography is a reliable method to weariness measurement.
