The object of study of this dissertation is the teaching practices of judo for children. The objectives are: to investigate how postgraduate studies in Brazil have approached the teaching-learning process of judo for children and to analyze the speeches of teachers from the Espírito Santo Judo Federation who work with childrens judo in Espírito Santo about their practices. for teaching this modality. To achieve the first objective, a state of knowledge was carried out using the Capes Theses and Dissertations Catalog as a source. Of the 215 works identified, only 39 contemplated the dimension of teaching this sport to children. The focuses of the analyzed researches were: methodologies for teaching childrens judo (20); social behavior and axiological dimension (8); sports initiation and competition for children (5); judo and health (4); and teacher training to work with childrens judo (2). As a result, it is pointed out that, although theses and dissertations focus on judo from different perspectives, studies give little visibility to childrens productions and childrens protagonism. This finding suggests the predominance of an externally oriented teaching model for childrens judo, that is, centered on the adult and not on the subject of learning. Regarding the second objective, a descriptive-interpretative study was carried out with 33 teachers. Data were produced through a questionnaire sent by Google Forms. The results indicate that teachers emphasize axiological, technical and motor development aspects in their teaching processes, which points to a universal conception of childhood. Although they use games and games in their classes, the discourses suggest an instrumental appropriation of these playful manifestations, with little space for children to have their subjectivities, agencies and authorial practices recognized and valued.
