The purpose of this thesis is to present here a narrative analysis of Gente conmigo , a novel written by the Italian-Argentine author Syria Poletti. Through a study of the novel, its characters and the topics discussed in it, we enter the reality of 19th century Italian immigration to Argentina and the fictional world of the protagonist Nora Candiani, Poletti's own alter ego. In addition to the author's presentation and the historical context, the controversial and problematic issues of hybridity and transculturation are also related to the definition of the concept of identity that is formed and adapted during and after the diasporic phenomenon. Theories of sociologists and academics such as Stuart Hall, Fernando Ortiz, Nestor Canclini and Angel Rama are applied for this study.
