A lógica do absurdo : loucura, reificação e cinismo em Quincas Borba

Abstract

We will talk about the mechanism of inheritance, as searching in Machado de Assis literature, amplifying It and transferring It to the interpreting hypothesis of that, such mechanism, in plot of the machadiana literature, constitutes an ironic way for the carioca author to fiction the metaphysical legacy, as well as the presence of self values, techniques and western institutions. Hereafter, it will be adopted as an exemplary reference of analysis, the leading character’s behavioral vicissitude, Rubião, from Quincas Borba novel, universal heir of a madness – the relations of power incorporated and reified – which, involving rich and poor, establish themselves as legacy of the human misery, of a world formed of possessors and slaves. And it is this amplified madness, not simply individual, not simply of the nineteenth century, that will be the theme of this master’s dissertation.
