This work evaluated the influence of the selective collection modalities (drop-off points, door-to-door, Waste Pickers’ Organizations - WPO and mixed), on gravimetric compositions and on service costs, in municipalities that have selective collection programs in Espírito Santo. To analyze the influence of the modalities, data from gravimetric compositions of recyclable dry waste that arrived at WPO and information from municipalities in ES that had a selective collection contract in 2017 were used. Was identified the contribution in kg of the dry waste by selective collection modality in the year of 2017, being the blended modality with most contribution (58,5%) from the waste collected. Besides that, considering the research clipping, 55% of the population from ES was attended by the selective collection service. In terms of the service management there is a predominance in ES to use the WPO in the selective collection execution. Still, was identified the selective collection it’s nearly 2,5 times bigger than the conventional collection when executed by the WPO’s and 4,4 times bigger when carried by third-party companies. Was possible identify the gravimetry composition from the dry waste collected in the ES, composed by paper group and tetrapak with most participation (54%), followed by plastics (17%), residues (10%), glasses (9%), others (7%) e metal (3%). Furthermore, was calculated the medium per capita of 12,79 kg of dry waste collected/habitant fulfilled/year and 6,58 kg of dry waste collected/habitant total/year in ES. All this information formed an overview of the operationality of existing municipal selective collection programs based on primary data, which is shown as a differentiator from other research
