Resumo

The seed rain and seedling are important natural processes of regeneration of tropical forests. Because of the lack of studies addressing these mechanisms in the Atlantic Forest on tabuleiros of the Espírito Santo state, our question was: How are the seed rain and seedling in sections with different ages of post-fire regeneration? therefore we selected two sections in post-fire regeneration: one with 17 years-old of regeneration on biological reserves of Sooretama and another stretch of 28-year-old on biological reserves of Córrego do Veado. Five plots were used (25 x 25 m) each way and each was installed six circular collectors (0.49 m²). For the seedlings in each plot were allocated six subplots with 2 x 1 m, where individuals between 5 and 50 cm were counted, measured and identified. Of seed rain, families with more species were Bignoniaceae, Fabaceae and Sapindaceae. In the stretch of 17 years-old after fire, were collected diaspores of 22 species, showing less diversity and uniformity than the stretch of 28 years-old (26 species). Overall, there was a predominance of Anemochoric species (57, 7%) and lianas (62, 8%). The seedlings consisted of 191 individuals, families with highest species richness were Fabaceae, Sapindaceae and Bignoniaceae. The 17 year portions 93 of the seedlings 38 comprised species (H '= 2,95 and J = 0,81), on the other hand, 98 28-year stretches of 41 seedlings grasped species (H' = 3,48 and J = 0,89). The seedling is composed of tree life forms (61,1%), most local species with high representativity secondary species and 84,6% zoochoric species (45, 2%). The species similarity analysis indicated that the floristic composition of these parts is distinct. During the study period, we observed that species own stretches acted as main sources of propagules sources or are principals species set out in the regenerative stratum. Even 17-28 years-old after fire and regeneration mechanisms operating in the recovery process, areas are still in early stages of succession, with richness, diversity, and similarity of distinct species observed in a mature forest.
