Resumo

Sub-lethal concentrations of toxic substances are among the most harmful effects on the environment. Test organisms are widely used as tools for the identification of toxic agents, as a way to understand a harmful action to ecosystems. This experiment was carried out in 45 days, using a Nitokra sp. as a test organism, or that made it possible to understand harmful effects in generational analysis and variation in the sexual proportion of copepods after exposure to iron. The results indicated a decrease in the reproduction and the recruitment of these individuals at a concentration of 0.102 mg L-1. In the case of iron above 0.178 mg L-1, there is a change in the ratio of sexual males per female in almost half of the proportion in the control. Referential patterns of discharge of effluents are shown by a framework of aquatic life effects by acute tests, however, sub-lethal, concentrations lower than the values calculated as safe by the agencys responsible for damages caused by the potential interference and development of organisms.
