Resumo

The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of simulated mastication, fermentation, acid-enzymatic digestion in vitro, and the dynamic effects of these on the survival and germination rate of four cultivars of Brachiaria spp. (Marandu, MG5- xaraes, Basilisk and Ruziziensis). Four trials were conducted, the first to observe the percentage of seeds damaged by simulated mastication; The second, to verify the seed germination rate after chewing; The third to compare the rate of germination after fermentation and enzymatic acid digestion, by means of ruminal inoculation, hydrochloric acid and pepsin; And the fourth to verify the germination rate of undestroyed seeds after undergoing simulated chewing, fermentation and enzymatic acid digestion in vitro. However, treatments that simulate in vitro the passage of Brachiaria spp. Seeds in the bovine digestive tract caused a reduction in seed germination.
