O templo e a forca: uma insurreição imaginada a partir da história

Abstract

The objective here intended is to analyse the work O templo e a forca, by Luiz Guilherme Santos Neves, in which the historical episode of the enslaved black insurgency taken place in the district of Queimado, in the year of 1849, inspires the novel. We will observe the relation stablished between History and fiction in the romance, taking into consideration how the fictional text works from a historical revisionist perspective. In such perspective, the fiction either completes the historical point of view or transfigures it, in order to lead to new conclusions about the event. For this purpose, we were inspired by the reflections undertaken by some theoretical of the literature. The ideas of Linda Hutcheon and her concept of Historiographical metafiction and Mikhail Bakhtin"s approach of dialogism were specially taken under consideration for the present analysis.
