This study is an intervention-research that develops a process of Participatory Planning as a pedagogical proposal that aims to increase the participation of students in Physical Education classes at E.M.E.F. “Sister Cleusa Carolina Rody Coelho”, in the municipality of Serra/ES, with three 9th grade classes from Elementary School. The specific objectives were: a) to identify the interests of the students in the Physical Education classes, as well as the body practices that they like and seek to perform in their free time; b) to understand and interfere in the processes that make it difficult for students to participate in the Physical Education classes; c) to implement/develop the Participatory Planning of the classes with the 9th grade students; d) to evaluate the effects of the Participatory Planning in the participation of the students in the Physical Education classes. The proposal was organized in four elements: diagnosis, construction of the teaching plan, classes and evaluation. The data were produced from activities carried out by the students during the classes. As instruments of data production we used a questionnaire applied at the beginning of the year for the structuring of the diagnosis and another one applied at the end of the year; elaboration of texts by the students at the end of the quarters; photos produced during the Physical Education classes and observations made by the teacher/researcher recorded in the field diary (teacher’s notebook). From the experience and data produced, we understand that the proposal provided students with important moments of reflection about Physical Education as a curricular component, resignifying their relationship with the contents proposed in class, as well as with the ways in which these contents are treated in class. Participatory planning generally favored increased participation. With the limits and possibilities produced during the process, it is possible to say that Participatory Planning has become na important pedagogical strategy in School Physical Education to foster the critical involvement of students in the teachinglearning process through a dialogical and democratic perspective.
