The botanical family with the largest number of vegetables are the brassicas . In Brazil , the cabbage is the most consumed and the state of Espírito Santo is the third largest vegetable crop cultivation of rapeseed expression . The correct fertilization favors the quality of the final product , providing positive with increasing productivity applications responses. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of nitrogen and boron on yield of cabbage and production of secondary metabolites in the north of the Espírito Santo . The experiment was conducted at the experimental farm of the agronomy course of CEUNES / UFES . Hybrid seeds and seedlings plus Astrus maintained for about 30 days in the greenhouse were used . We used a randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications and fertilizer for planting and coverage followed the rules for the state of Espírito Santo . The treatments consisted of control,75,150,225 and 300 kg N / ha 0, 2, 4 , 6 and 8 kg B / ha taken at 15 , 40 and 60 days after transplantation. The traits analyzed were yield, head fresh weight , head diameter , number of outer leaves , format index , relative height of the heart over the head diameter , dry matter content , total nitrogen and boron in the head and the outer leaves and secondary metabolites. The extraction and chromatographic characterization of the samples were made at the Federal University of Santa Maria . The results showed that for both nutrients responses were significant for most of the studied parameters. The data of productivity and quality of the grown plants proved compatible with the requirements of the consumer market and the secondary metabolites found showed higher concentration in outer leaves.
