This study aimed to investigate, on a greenhouse, the physiological performance of two cultivars (FB300and FB200) of passion fruitPassiflora edulis Sims.subjected to water stress and to recovery during rehydration. The parameters analyzed were: water potential (?w), transient (JIP test) and modulated chlorophyll afluorescence, chlorophyllcontents, antioxidant activity of catalase and peroxidase enzymes, determination of lipid peroxidation by malondialdehyde (MDA) contents. After 60 days of growth, water stress was initiated by total suppressionof water for 11 days and followed by 6 daysrehydration. Both cultivars showed a similar behavior of ?wdecreasing during water suppression and recovery in rehydration. However, the FB200 cultivar proved to be more susceptiveto water stress evidenced by a greater drop in its values in all analyzed parameters and by a larger increase in the levels of lipid peroxidation. FB300showed a greater physiological plasticity to tolerate the imposition of water suppression confirmed by a smaller decline in the values in the most of the parametersanalysed and by the shortest time needed for its recovery to the level of control
