The study addresses coastal verticalization on the shore of Vila Velha, a county that integrates the Great Metropolitan Region of Vitória (RMGV), specifically in the first blocks from the sea located in the neighborhoods of Praia da Costa, Itapuã and Praia de Itaparica, through mapping of buildings built from the genesis of the process to the present days. The data are organized by decade, allowing a periodization of the phenomenon, which indicates the timid beginning in the 1960s and 1970s and an intensification from the dynamization of the Espírito Santo economic base in the following decades, reaching its peak in the 1990s. The construction of the Third Bridge connecting the beach areas of the municipalities of Vila Velha to Vitória boosted the number of launches of new buildings that, although it has been reduced since the 2000s, is still quite significant, especially on the shore of Praia de Itaparica
