Resumo
Telling the history of the curriculum in Brazil, this work critically analyzed the Brazilian National Curriculum (BNCC), paying attention to the specificities of the Natural Sciences area. The thematic axes of this teaching area were detailed for the final grades of elementary school and, based on the objectives proposed for each school year, didactic strategies were elaborated, such as concept maps, case studies, practical experiments and film suggestions, which aim to help the teacher appropriate new pedagogical tools, prioritizing an education focused on the development of skills. Strategies with themes that approach the student's reality were suggested, creating problem situations for a better understanding of the subject and its application in real life so that, in fact, there can be significant learning
