This work aims to structure a set of experiments with the help of the Arduino platform, as a subsidy to the learning of the nature and properties of light. A didactic sequence was applied to two 3rd grade high school classes, based on the Meaningful Learning Theory. As a problem-solving situation, the use of ultraviolet radiation in the elimination of microorganisms was addressed. Experiments were performed to show the wavelike and corpuscular behavior of light. A scientific article about the effects of solar radiation on human health was read and discussed. As evaluation tools, we used a crossword puzzle about electromagnetic waves, a logbook, the construction of a concept map, the elaboration of a glossary of the scientific article, script questionnaires, and a final questionnaire. Our analysis of the results indicates that the applied didactic sequence can be considered a potentially significant material for the insertion of FMC topics in high school. However, the results also point out that students maintain some alternative conceptions. In any case, this work can contribute to the development of strategies aimed at improving teaching and, consequently, forming citizens with critical and scientifically accepted thoughts.
