Resumo

This work discursively analyzes a section of texts from the Hip Hop movement that bring the signifiers "street" and "school," examining how these signs are constructed in the popular imaginary, given that these spaces sometimes occupy opposing positions in educational discourse. From another perspective, urban discourse questions this dichotomy, imbuing alternative meanings to both "street" and "school." Thus, this research investigates how meanings about the street and school are constructed by the subjects who articulate them. The theoretical framework adopts a materialist approach from French Discourse Analysis, supported by Michel Pêcheux's postulates, aiming to establish relationships between linguistic-discursive features, emerging senses, production conditions, and the discursive, ideological, and imaginary formations that permeate the subjects and their speech acts. Thus, the hypothesis arises that there are tensions in the producing meanings regarding the pair street and school, so that such notions come closer or further apart depending on the subjects who enunciate. The corpus includes analysis of texts such as "Eu larguei a escola," a slam poetry by Rômulo Dias; "Autobiografia parte 1," a song by Mc Sid; an excerpt from the rap "Favela Vive 3" performed by rappers DK, Lord and Choice; and a fragment of freestyle rhyme by Dudu MC from the podcast Rap Falando. This study employs a qualitative method, delving into discursive issues through a focused corpus. Selection criteria prioritize statements by rappers, masters of ceremonies, and slammers that mention the street and school, available for access on the internet. From this work, it was possible to observe that there are different notions of school and street, crossed by discourses and material conditions of production of the subjects that occupy them; in addition, it was proposed that the union between the street and the school, apparently watertight at first glance, can enhance the process of formal education.
