Resumo

This research explores situations related to aesthetic experiences provided by digital media. Based on theories of art, we investigate the massive multiplayer online video game Occupy White Walls – OWW and its additional platform KULTURA. The game is part of the sandbox category, characterized by the interactive alteration of its universe. Aimed at the public interested in art, specialized or not specialized, the game proposes that its participants build virtual galleries and curate their space. In turn, KULTURA platform gathers OWW collection. It makes available digital images of works of art in public domain and original contributions by emerging interested artists. Both Occupy White Walls and KULTURA are driven by DAISY artificial intelligence, which can be compared to the recommendation algorithms of social networks and streaming platforms. We analyze the game OWW and KULTURA from the point of view of players and agents of the art system. Our approach resorts to discussions on aesthetic experience, considering the interaction provided by these platforms and their contact with the art system dynamics, within the context of several emerging virtual museums and art platforms.
