Resumo
Based on the assumption that memory is selective, the purpose of this dissertation is to point the silences and omissions of the Getúlio Vargas journal between 1935 and 1937. We make reflections and attuned to the issues, problems, and concerns that the national historiography and foreign underlined and emphasized as run-up to the 1937 coup, emphasizing the theoretical discussions between memory and history as well as the treatment of the Journal as a historical source. We analyze the memorial representations in a comparative perspective with events, meetings and events occurring in the proposed period and were problematized in historiographical production and narrated in the biographies that analyze the period so-called constitutional situation of the Vargas era. This examination located evidence of forgetfulness of the diarist memory as the signed agreements and actions taken against opponents of the coup in 1937.
