There was considered social, cultural and historic aspects, intending to understand if and how these communities' cultures are expressed in the curriculum of the classes who attend these students. The research used twenty students of these communities, that are distributed in two classes of Guriri Island and two science teachers that work with these students. To analyze the results, there was applied two methods of quantitative research: the content analysis and the speech analysis. This work introduces, in the text flow, discussions that percolate many wisdom areas related to the research, building them historically and tracing their connections and possibilities of insertion in the curriculum of basic education in the São Mateus' schools. It concludes, therefore, that the inclusion of traditional knowledge in the curriculum of Guriri Island is pertinent, because the traditional communities' students have a vast mastery of their culture, and it can be used as a support for the construction of a new acquaintance, as relating the traditional and scientific knowledge.
