Abstract

This research has the purpose to present what is chaotic function in a language accessible to high school students. The National Common Curriculum Base “Base Nacional Curricular Comum” (BNCC) of High School, approved on December 4, 2018, states that, among some skills that students need to develop throughout school life, it is manipulating mathematical concepts and procedures, bringing mathematics for applications closer to reality. Based on the fact that, some functions are utopian and that hardly ever would be found in practice, it was decided to present to high school teachers a type of function that has been increasingly used since the quantification of pollutants in the air, as in stability of oil rigs and even in studies of heart problems, the chaotic function
