Teorema de Pitágoras e algumas aplicações

Abstract

The Pythagorean Theorem has relevance for mathematics, due to the numerous applications in everyday situations and the contribution to the formulation of new mathematical concepts. This research aims to carry out an study on the Pythagorean theorem and its contributions in solving problems. It is described a little of the history of Pythagoras and his theorem, some demonstrations of the theorem, of its reciprocal and its generalization are presented. We also analyze several applications of the Pythagorean theorem in other areas of mathematics and in solving various problems, highlighting their presence in the main national tests and competitions carried out by the students. The aim of this research is to make students aware of the importance of this theorem and motivate them to deepen their mathematical knowledge, presenting the theorem and its consequences in all its rigor, but in a way accessible to elementary school students.
