Resumo

This dissertation aims to analyze the narratives surrounding the murders of three teenagers who lived in Território do Bem, Vitória - ES, and the episodes of uprising that occurred in protest against their deaths. The teenagers are Wanderson de Souza, murdered in 2016, João Vitor, in 2017, and Caio Matheus, murdered in 2020—all killed by the police, with conflicting information between the State and the residents regarding the moments of the executions. The research addresses the conceptions of justice that emerged among the subjects involved in the uprisings and how these conceptions spread through public discourse in the city, focusing on how Black bodies—especially adolescents—are vulnerable in the social imagination and in the dynamics of sujeição criminal. To this end, content analysis (CA) was employed, guided by the evidentiary paradigm. The research corpus includes news articles from the online newspapers A Gazeta and G1, which were subjected to CA, allowing access to the narratives about the teenagers' murders and the protests in Território do Bem. Throughout the work, violations of adolescents' rights in the media are discussed, as well as how race, territory, and criminal subjugation are intertwined in these dynamics, in addition to the elements of fabulation that shape our imagination through the narrative choices of the news outlets. It was observed that the conceptions of justice between the State and the interviewed residents of Território do Bem are divergent. The very act of protesting in rebellion is an indication of contesting the State’s justice dynamics. It was also noted that the narrative of the war on drugs is central to the official justifications for State action and that it is intertwined with structural racism
